Hi Hal, Are those opening heights for Friday's qualifying, Saturday's finals, both?

Thanks!

Hal, any particular reason why the Girls PV officials chose to move the bar up in 6" increments from 11-06 to 13-00 in the Final?
Seems like that choice took an awful lot of excitement out of the event.
I wish they had gone to 4" after 12-00.

That was the way we (management) set the progression, not the officials. Good point, perhaps we should leave 6" inches in the low-mid 12's and go to 4" from there. We did the same thing with the boys if you notice.

Hal,

In NCAA, USATF and IAAF meets the standard increment progression for the pole vault at the lower heights is 15cm.

When the bar gets toward the season bests of vaulters, the progression decreases to 10cm.

Typically at championship meets the progression remains at 10cm from the start of the event to the determination of the winner. That is because the opening height is fairly high.

At Arcadia, I always start with a progression of 15cm (6") but go to 10cm (4") when the field gets smaller and the better vaulter's PR are near.

Appreciate the comment posted by Track Dude. Sometimes we tend to fall asleep and need to be nudged.
