Lizzy Thomas ran 11:32 last week which I believe is a high school girl's record for the Gahr event (previous best Claire Kim's 11:34 in 2003). Rock on, Lizzy!

The meet director told us the course record was 11:26, though that may not have been a HS runner. If she did indeed break the HS record, that would be great to let her know. Anyhow, she was very pleased with her run. We kept it low pressure and just tried to compete & check in with our fitness. I don't use a watch for much of the summer training keeping our focus on form & quality. Thank you for the shout out... :)

You've coached some fast kids, right? ;)

Hope all is well at HW!

At one time the Kim twins (Claire & Stacy) held all the records from Youth thru Senior. Alas as the event has grown, so has the draw of quality athletes from farther reaches of the southland. We still have a local flavor, however, and in this case the current senior girls record is held by a local gal from Warren High. Dani Moreno ran 11:28 to finish 2nd behind teammate & soph record holder Danielle Rodriguez (11:24) on Aug 27, 2009. Lizzy is a quality athlete and we were certainly pleased to have her & all the Harvard Westlake group join in on the fun this summer.

Coach Leighliter: Thanks for setting the "record" straight on this. That must have been a thrilling finish in 2009!
