Just a quick look back at the boys preseason rankings to see how they look in hindsight.
If you refer back to the rankings thread that lists the top 100 Boys teams (http://www.prepcaltrack.com/2013/08/31/california-hot-100-boys-teams-of-2013/), you can see the full list.
Overall #1 Arcadia is still #1 but it’s hold on the top spot is less strong than it was in the summer. The rest of the pre-season top 4 are all still highly ranked with preseason #2 Dana Hills currently #6, De La Salle is now #5 and Brea Olinda is currently #3. Long Beach Poly was ranked #5 in the preseason and is currently outside of the top 25 schools and #12 in SS Div 1. Preseason #6 Redondo Union is down to #23 and Westlake has fallen from #7 combined #7 in SS Div 2.

There are 7 teams that were in the preseason top 25 that are not currently ranked in the top 25, LB Poly (#5), Westlake (#7), Newbury Park (#12), Glendora (#15), Torrey Pines (#19), California (#21) and Rancho Buena Vista (#25). That means that 18 of the schools in the preseason rankings are still very highly regarded/ranked. LB Poly, Glendora and Westlake are all still ranked in their SS Division so those teams are still doing pretty well. That leaves only 4 teams (16%)that can be considered “misses” for the rankings as far as being over-ranked squads.

On the other side, 7 new teams entered the top 25 that were previously outside of that group. Among those, St. Joseph Notre Dame has had the largest leap, from pre-season #65 all the way up to #15! Westview of San Diego was ranked #75 in the pre-season and is currently 25th. Both of these schools moved up 50 spots in the rankings.

Eight of the pre-season top 25 squads are within 3 spots of their pre-season rankings in the current list. That is almost 33 percent of the schools absolutely nailed in the summer list!
