I'm updating some of our all time lists and came across a couple of fast times for one of our girls in 1997. Does anyone have information that tells which courses were run for both Prelims and Finals that year??? Thanks. Rex Hall Dana Hills Girls XC:confused:

Rex,

The rain course was used for CIF-SS Finals in 1997.

Prelims too, if my memory serves me (that was my senior year). Keep in mind that version of the rain course used to go to the other side of temple and over to the Mt Sac campus.

I couldn't remember which years we used the old rain course. Rich indicates it was for the '97 Finals and we used it again for the '98 Prelims. Similar pattern to 2011 Finals and 2012 Prelims on the new rain course.

The old rain course was used for CIF Finals in the fall of 1996 as well (crossing over Temple and finishing through the tunnel and onto the track).

Thanks everyone. Found two entries for the same girl (around a 19:10 kid) who ran 18:48 prelims and 18:43 finals but was never listed in our all time list. Must have been "Rain" year. Thanks

I should have looked at Bill Peck's SS Cross Country history first. The old rain course was used for the 1996 finals and again for the 1997 prelims. A rain course was not used again until the 2011 finals and again for the 2012 prelims.

Hal, rain course was used for 2010 Finals, 2011 Prelims, and 2012 Finals.

to confirm, if anyone is confused: in '97, the rain course (which used to go around the campus and through the tunnel) was used for cif prelims but NOT cif finals.

that's my story and i'm sticking to it....

While we're on the topic, does anyone have a definitive distance on the rain course used the last 2 years? How about the course used at the 2010 finals? I remember 2010 being quite a bit longer...

The first running of the new rain course was longer. We cut quite a bit off the "turn around" in the Soccer Parking after the times were so much slower. Don't know what the actual distance of the current rain course is.

2010 rain course =3.23mi (according to the most respected wheel in town)

The course map found on the CIF Website of the current rain course says 2.91mi.

Best of luck to everyone this Saturday!

Thanks for this, George.

Fingers crossed for the traditional course this Saturday, especially if we're gonna lose it for the next 2 years... :-/
